July 2009

During the beginning July 2009 a prelinary survey was carried out to check the posibility or building the Parkside railway once more.  The initial fears on the gradiednt seemd to be well founded 1:60 throughout!  the curves seemed slacker at 25ft.  It also looked like giving a continous run or about 300ft again.  Some tweeking of the gradiens in an Exel spreadsheet (I’ll publish a link when its been tidied up a bit.)  I managed to get the gradient to 1:120 which is much more acceptable.  After discussions with the Senior manager we were give the green light.

19th July saw the cutting of the first sod and the official start of the construction.  The section from the patio down under the beach passed the barbeque and onto the Path was cleared of grass and a start made on digging the trench.
